Here&#8217;s a sampling:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will my children and grandchildren walk with God? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will my marriage go the distance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will we have enough money to pay for college, weddings, and retirement?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will we be persecuted for our faith?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will our country continue to disintegrate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will societal unrest destroy our country?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will godly officials be elected to office?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For these and other fears, there is hope&#8211;in God&#8217;s Word and in the Disney movie starring Winnie the Pooh, <em>Christopher Robin<\/em>. I watched it recently, and one line from the movie connected me with God&#8217;s truth. It has reverberated in my heart since I heard it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In one scene, an adult Christopher Robin awakens to discover he\u2019s slept the night away. He\u2019s late for a very important meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh no!\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s tomorrow.\u201d Panicked, he rushes into a day filled with pressure, problems, and hopeless scenarios. A day devoid of joy and fun.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pooh remembers their conversation as the sun sets on the movie. \u201cWhat day is today?\u201d he asks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s today,\u201d Christopher Robin replies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh, that\u2019s my favorite day.&nbsp;<strong>Yesterday, when it was tomorrow, it was much too much day for me.\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have often felt Pooh\u2019s angst. Standing on the precipice of Today peering through the thin veil into Tomorrow, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by what the future might hold. Fear clutches my heart.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tomorrow is much too much day for me.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thankfully, Jesus knows the frailties of our hearts. This is why he cautioned, \u201cTherefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own\u201d (Mat. 6:34).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Don\u2019t peer into the veil, he warns. One day\u2019s challenges are enough.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jeremiah, in the book of Lamentations, tells us why each day must stand on its own.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201c(God\u2019s) mercies never end. They are new every morning\u201d (Lamentations 3:23).<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Like the manna He supplied to the Israelites every day, God\u2019s supply is inexhaustible \u2013 but the quantities are limited.<\/strong>&nbsp;Today\u2019s mercies are only enough to feed Today\u2019s growling stomach. There are no leftovers to vacuum seal and set aside. Tomorrow\u2019s mercies remain safely stored in the warehouse of God\u2019s supply until the new day arrives, and we cannot raid the stash.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Yet we want to. Oh, how we want to.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want to stockpile a lifetime\u2019s supply of mercy so only have to ask once. We long to shed our mantle of fear and uncertainty forever. We want to walk into our future with our mercy cloaks wrapped tightly about us, impervious to the fiery darts of our uncertain futures \u2013 the same darts that drive us to seek shelter in the shadow of the Almighty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it doesn\u2019t work that way. \u201cYesterday\u2019s mercies are for yesterday\u2019s burdens,\u201d John Piper said, and it\u2019s true. Today\u2019s mercy check is payable to the bearer on demand, but it can\u2019t be post-dated.&nbsp;<br><strong><br><\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogger.com\/blog\/post\/edit\/4027870719667125440\/9180789929919188152#\"><\/a>Every day God invites us to sit at his feet and obtain all the mercy we need \u2013 but only for that day\u2019s challenges<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLet us then approach God&#8217;s throne of grace with confidence,\u201d the writer of Hebrews says, \u201cso that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This daily portion of grace and mercy tethers us to his side, where we are safe, instead of releasing us to the dangers of spiritual independence.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God knows our hearts. He knows we\u2019d jerk the coat of adequacy off the rack, shove our arms into its sleeves, and march off into the future with nary a backward glance. Clothed in our self-sufficiency, we\u2019d have no reason to sit at his feet, learn from him, and allow him to work through us.&nbsp;<strong>We\u2019d have no need for a relationship with him if he provided all we needed to live without him.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knowing our willful bent toward independence, God tethers us to himself by his grace. There we experience the freedom of knowing he\u2019ll provide everything we need, exactly when we need it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What a gift.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you feel overwhelmed and frightened by the&nbsp;<em>what ifs<\/em>&nbsp;of the future, take heart. If you can\u2019t bear the thought of tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, rest easy. As Pooh so wisely observed, tomorrow is much too much day for you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>But today isn\u2019t.<\/strong>&nbsp;Today you have God\u2019s mercies \u2013 and they are new every day, abundantly sufficient for everything you will encounter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Today is all you have to face. And God\u2019s mercies are already here.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who in your life is struggling with fear?
