About Lori

My life has changed three times (so far).

The first change happened when God cracked open my heart, showed me my sin, and covered it with His grace. I came to faith in Christ as an 18-year-old Helen Reddy, “I Am Woman” kind of girl. Through the years, by God’s good grace, He’s been transforming me into a 50-something “I Am God’s Woman” kind of girl.

The second change came when I accepted the challenge to read my Bible through in a year. Before then, I’d known of God. After that, I began to know God. Really know Him. Like a teenager besotted by her first love, I discovered characteristic after characteristic that made me fall madly in love with Him. This love grows stronger every year. The third change occurred when I discovered prayer. Through Bible reading, I heard God speak to me. Through prayer, I discovered I could speak to God. It’s an amazing thing to have a conversation with the God of the universe. Heady and hope filled. Joyous.

Soon my heart overflowed like a river at flood stage. I channeled the flow into my blog, then into teaching, article writing, and women’s ministry speaking. I wrote a book, Joy in the Journey, Encouragement for Homeschooling Moms (an amazing God story). And another book, Hungry for God…Starving for Time (another amazing God story).

Now I’m working with Our Daily Bread Publishing to create the Refresh series. Refresh Your Faith, Uncommon Devotions from Every Book of the Bible released in April 2020, Refresh Your Prayers, Uncommon Devotions to Release Power and Praise released March 2022, and Refresh Your Hope, 60 Unshakeable Reasons Not to Lose Heart released in January 2023. Hubby and I co-authored 100 Moments with God for Couples (March 2023). In 2024 we’ll see A Word for Your Day, 66 Devotions to Refresh Your Mind, followed by Think on These Things, 60 Praiseworthy Moments to Encourage Your Heart. (Pray for meeee!)

I write, speak, and live to point people to God and His Word. I want others to experience the power and presence of God available to us as believers in Jesus Christ. If you want that too, I hope you’ll join me.

• Married to Pastor/Hubby David for almost 40 years.
• Mom to two amazing women and their kind husbands
• Gigi to four wise and wonderful grandchildren and one adorable Frenchie
• A Registered Dental Hygienist for almost 40 years (my day job and endless source of material)
• A happy transplant from charming-yet-cold Bristol, Rhode Island, to equally-charming-but-much-less-cold Lexington, South Carolina
• Has written part of every book (so far) in the mountains of North Carolina, which I consider almost heaven (sorry, John Denver)
• Has delivered newspapers in a blizzard (The Blizzard of ’78); completed a high ropes course on the top deck of a cruise ship; and interviewed Anne Graham Lotz, Laura Story, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Tim Hawkins
• Loves ice cream and scalding hot baths (not at the same time), sunshine, walks, and snuggling with warm puppies and grandchildren. An ideal day would be spent at the beach or mountains with my family, surrounded by my grandchildren, reading to them while they listened enraptured. If there was a tub of Maple Walnut ice cream or Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds with Sea Salt nearby, all the better.
